CSR Geneva New Year Talks & Drinks will host Dr. Michael Hopkins – Managing Director of MHCi and is an economist specialising in socio-economic issues. He is Professor of Corporate Responsibility and Business Performance at Middlesex University, London, UK.

Dr. Michael Hopkins will speak about his latest book

CSR & INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

IS BUSINESS THE SOLUTION?
Dr. Michael Hopkins will make the case that governments and their international agencies, grouped under the umbrella of the United Nations, have failed in their attempts to rid the planet of underdevelopment and poverty. If development is the objective then it seems that the solution and the responsibility lies with the private sector – particularly through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes of large corporations, with their tremendous power and economic strength.

Dr. Michael Hopkins explicitly links CSR with development and he will spell out with examples what corporations are doing on development, what more they could do and how CSR can be a useful tool to promote economic development and dynamic way to kick-start the eradication of poverty.

Copies of his book will be available for sale at a discounted price for CSR Geneva members.

We look forward to seeing you in 2008.

In the meantime Happy Holidays to all our members.
